Hand-Carved Eagle Derby Walking Cane in Rare Laurel Wood
An eagle carved into a grip you can actually use.
Most carved canes make you choose between a sculpture and a handle. This one is a derby — the shape that carries weight along your palm rather than pinching a knob — with an eagle cut into the front of it. The bird looks out ahead of your hand: hooked beak, brow cut deep over the eye, and fine incised feather lines sweeping back along the neck into the grip.
The wood does half the work here. The head sits in the dark heartwood of the handle block while the palm rest was left in the pale outer wood, so the eagle reads nearly black against blonde from across a room. The shaft is a second piece of laurel, fitted and grain-matched at the joint, where a thin band of paler laurel marks the join.
Every line of the carving was cut by hand into that single block of rare laurel, a dense and close-grained tropical hardwood that holds fine detail without splintering. No molds, no machine duplication, nothing repeated from the last piece.

Need a different height? This cane is 37 inches. If you need it shorter, the shaft can be cut down after it arrives — that part is done on your end, and any hardware or woodworking shop can trim one and refit the tip in a few minutes. Measure carefully, because a cane that has been cut can't be returned. If you need taller than 37 inches, that's a custom order with an additional cost and a lead time of about four weeks: email us and we'll quote it. Our two-minute fit guide shows how to measure.
Please note
The photos show the exact cane in this listing. Small variations in grain, color and carving depth are the signature of hand work, not flaws.
