Named for Xibalba, the mythic realm of Maya legend, this is our derby handle walking cane and the most accessible way to own a Walt Cane. The derby is the classic shape for canes that see real daily use: your palm rests along the top of the handle instead of pinching a knob, spreading your weight comfortably with every step.
Here that shape is a deep, rounded curve, fitted by hand and grain-matched to a solid laurel wood shaft. Outfitting a wedding party? Our groomsmen gift guide explains why a matched set of canes beats another round of flasks.
Like every Walt Cane, it's made from solid laurel air-cured for two years, then hand-fitted and finished with six hand-rubbed coats of hardening oil: dense enough for real daily weight, and made to be kept, not replaced.

Need a different height? Every cane ships at 37 inches. If you need it shorter, the shaft can be cut down after it arrives — that part is done on your end, and any hardware or woodworking shop can trim one and refit the tip in a few minutes. Measure carefully, because a cane that has been cut can't be returned. If you need taller than 37 inches, that's a custom order with an additional cost and a lead time of about four weeks: email us and we'll quote it. Not sure what length you need? Our two-minute fit guide shows how to measure.
About your cane: Each Xibalba is fitted from its own two pieces of laurel, so the grain, color, and figure of the cane you receive will vary from the one photographed. That variation is what makes every piece one of a kind.
Care: Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid standing water. Re-oil once or twice a year to maintain the finish for decades.
