Walking Canes
Handcrafted laurel wood walking canes, each hand-fitted from two pieces of laurel and built to last generations.
Every cane here starts as solid laurel, a slow-grown hardwood from the highland cloud forests of Central America. The wood is air-cured for two years before it's shaped, then hand-fitted, grain-matched where the handle meets the shaft, and finished with six hand-rubbed coats of hardening oil.
Each model has a handle design of its own: the Tikal, our most popular; the Xibalba, with its classic derby grip; and the Isthmus, Sendero and Sombra. Every cane is fitted from its own two pieces of laurel, a handle and a shaft matched at the joint, so no two are alike and the one you receive will differ from the one photographed.
These are canes made to be used every day, not mass-produced hospital equipment: dense enough to bear real weight, stable enough to resist warping, and made to be kept. The standard length is 37 inches and can be cut shorter — our two-minute fit guide shows how to measure. Weighing wood against aluminum? We wrote an honest comparison of the two.
